How to Apply to PBM PhD Program
Online Application Materials (Part I):
To apply to the Physics and Biology in Medicine PhD, please follow these steps in the Online Application.
- Under "Plan for Graduate Study", please select "Bioscience PHD – Physics & Biology in Medicine" as your major and select "Fall" as the application term.
- On the Bioscience – Physics & Biology in Medicine screen,
- Rank your interest in the research areas listed with "1" being your first choice.
- Select 5 faculty with whom you share research interests. (1 = greatest interest)
- CV / Resume
- Statement of Purpose
- Please note that we do not need a Personal History Statement if this is part of the application. We only need your Statement of Purpose in lieu of this.
- Three Letters of Recommendation.
- Fellowship Application, if applicable
Application Materials (Part II):
- Official Transcripts
- Official transcripts must be sent directly from your institution's registrar's office to our department (either via mail or electronically to pbm@mednet.ucla.edu)
- Test Scores :
- GRE Scores - **ARE NOT REQUIRED**
- TOEFL or IELTS Scores
- Applicable to foreign students
- Must be taken within 3-4 years prior to application.
