Medical Imaging Specialization
Goal
To educate students in the theory and applications of medical imaging and instrumentation. Students are prepared to work in academic departments, major medical imaging instrumentation manufacturers and in major medical research hospitals and clinics. This includes research into the areas of:
- Physics and Application of Individual Imaging Modalities:
- Magnetic Resonance Research Labs
- Mammography
- Computerized Tomography
- Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA)
- Computed Radiography
- Functional Brain Mapping and Image Fusion
- Cardio-Pulmonary Imaging
- Medical Informatics and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
- Image Processing, Segmentation and Visualization
- Image Analysis: Feature Extraction and Pattern Recognition
- Coronary Artery edge detection, 3-D reconstruction and morphology from DSA
